Based on the great Croci Dipinte (“Painted Crosses”) that flourished in sacred art in primarily Italian churches during the Medieval period, these astounding works are now available from Trinity Icons.

Created by Trinity Icons artist Joseph Malham in collaboration with master woodworkers, these are hand-painted crosses, not reproductions, on exquisitely crafted crosses of poplar. They are painted in acrylic paint with 23k gold leaf borders and halo. Each one is a unique and individual creation.

These crosses can be used for home, school, office, rectory or church. The sizes may vary slightly but on average they are all in the range of 24” tall by 18” wide. They are available as hanging wall crosses or processional crosses with poles (processional crosses come with a pole but not a stand).

Each cross, being hand-painted, bears the Corpus of Christ and flanking images of the Virgin and the Beloved Disciple. Patrons of parishes or religious orders can be added. Unfortunately, due to the exacting nature of the creation of the wood and painting, the turnaround time for each cross is between 6-8 months.
